All new FlashinTO.com
I know I’ve been saying for months that we were going to be moving something new for FlashinTO. After lying abandoned by all but the most dedicated members we’ve decided to lay the forums to rest. Forums are really pretty old school at this point anyway – at least we hope you agree.
There were however two things that the forums were still used for: posting upcoming events and listing job postings. For events, you’ll see a list of upcoming events on the right and there is also an events page. You can also find event info on at www.facebook.com/flashinto
For job postings, we’ve added a classifieds plug-in so that everyone can continue to post and view local jobs. You’ll find a link to the right or go here: http://www.flashinto.com/index.php/flashinto-classifieds/
Over time if we see the need, I may expand the classified categories to include things other than jobs.
If you maintain a blog and want on the blog roll, let me know in the contact section.
There is still much to do, but this is a start at least. If you have any suggestions please feel free to comment here or contact me.

P.S. I’d also like to thank joeflash, false, s33k3r, pucknell, penciltest, sn1p, Fluffco, devEllOper, jason, headwinds, mrhogg, tgeorge, jkozuch, ian, _insect, Matt_Fabb, lars, n0wak, w.ll.am and the countless others who made the forums a lively and useful resource for all these years.
I think having a FlashInTO blog is a pretty good compromise especially that I frequent the RSS feeds. After all these years, I am pretty shocked. I expect to see this very much like the London Flash User Group whose usergroup blog seems to be pretty active. I don’t see why not have events, job postings, and everything else to be like any other announcement in the twitter feed. May not be the case for my workplace but FB and twitter might be on a blacklist, so having a site like this is important.
I have to voice that although this theme is not bad looking, it really sucks when it comes to finding where you post a comment.
I would recommend to keep the archive around, it’s a piece of Toronto Flash Scene history. Many good times were had on the FITO forums, sad to see her go!
Agreed. We miss the forum. :(
There are aspects of the forum I miss as well, but the reality is it just wasn’t serving the communication needs of the majority of our group. Hopefully as we go forward we’ll find new and better ways to connect this group.

I am aware of this. It’s a problem with connecting to the secure Gmail servers that we use for FlashinTO’s email. I’m working on it.
