May is education month at FlashinTO

For Gathering v99.0 we are having an education themed night. We’ll be talking to teachers, employers and students. I’m working on getting the people together right now and I’m looking for 3-4 students who’d be interested in being part of a panel to talk about some of the challenges they faced learning interactive digital media, things that worked well f0r them to make learning easier and maybe even some of the shortcomings they’ve found themselves faced with as they enter the workforce.

Also if someone is really ambitious and wants to moderate this panel, let me know and we can discuss.

If you’re interested in being on the panel, leave a comment here.

FlashinTO gets a new manager

After nine years of managing the Toronto Flash User Group, it is time for me to step down. Its been a great run, and I’ve met so many passionate and interesting people through the User Group. I leave Rick Mason, the co-manager, in place and have invited long time member and friend Simon Conlin as the new co-manager to run things with Rick. Feel free to reach out to Simon at simon@flashinto.com. Both Rick and Simon have been involved and working with FlashinTO for many years, and I have the ultimate faith in their abilities to continue the legacy.

I will still be around and involved, but unfortunately due to growing work demands i have decided to pass things on to Simon.

sincerely,

Shawn Pucknell

Matt Rix presents Trainyard

I’ve finally got the (un-edited) videos of Matt’s Oct presentation up on Youtube. Matt talks about the story of Trainyard and it’s rise to success on the App Store. The video is hand-held and for that I apologize, still lots of good nuggets of info in here for you.

Visit the FlashinTO channel on Youtube to see:
http://www.youtube.com/user/flashinto?feature=mhum

p.s. I know there’s nothing else up on here yet but I do intend to try and get some presentations online for people to see.
